Soothing Honey Lemon Lavender Tea (with Butterfly Pea Magic)

There’s something magical about blending herbs that speak the same language—calming, comforting, and subtly bright. This Honey Lemon Lavender Tea recipe is one of those blends that just feels good in the body. It’s gentle, balancing, and beautiful to look at. I originally made this tea to pair with my Lemon Lavender Honey Muffins (which you definitely need to try if you haven’t already), and let me tell you—this combo? Whole vibe.

Let’s get into the recipe and why this tea is more than just a pretty sip.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 tsp dried lavender buds

  • ½ tsp dried lemon peel

  • 6–8 oz hot water

  • 2 butterfly pea flowers

  • Juice of ½ fresh lemon

  • A generous spoon of raw honey

How to Make It:

  1. Add lavender and lemon peel to a mug or teapot.

  2. Pour 6–8 oz of hot water over the herbs and let steep for 5–7 minutes (10 if you want a stronger infusion).

  3. In the last 2 minutes of steeping, toss in 2 butterfly pea flowers and squeeze in the juice of half a lemon. Cover again.

  4. While it’s finishing, place your honey in the bottom of your mug.

  5. Once your tea is ready, strain and pour it over the honey. Give it a good stir.

  6. Sip slowly, preferably with a lemon lavender muffin on the side. ✨

Why It Works: The Herbal Benefits

  • Lavender is one of my favorite herbs for soothing the nervous system. It helps calm anxiety, reduce tension, and support better sleep. It’s also gently uplifting—perfect for those days when your spirit needs a hug.

  • Lemon peel brings brightness and supports digestion with its natural bitters. It’s also rich in vitamin C and has mood-boosting properties. The peel has a more concentrated citrus oil than the juice, giving this tea a warm zing without overpowering.

  • Butterfly pea flower isn’t just there for the color (though the deep indigo turning purple when you add lemon juice? Pure magic). It’s packed with antioxidants, supports cognitive function, and helps reduce stress and inflammation.

  • Lemon juice adds fresh vitamin C and immune support while enhancing the citrusy notes from the peel. It also activates the color change in the butterfly pea, turning this tea into a visual experience!

  • Raw honey brings it all together. It soothes the throat, supports the immune system, and enhances the floral notes without making the tea overly sweet.

Pair It With: Lemon Lavender Honey Muffins

This pairing was perfect. The muffin picks up on the same lavender and lemon notes in the tea, but adds a soft, buttery richness that complements the lightness of the tea. Together, it felt like a tea ceremony I didn’t know I needed.

Whether you need a little grounding in the morning, a gentle reset midday, or a calming evening ritual, this tea is quick to make and full of goodness. Simple ingredients, deeply nourishing benefits, and an experience that pleases every sense.
